Oil Boiler - Annual Service Checklist
Below is our generic Oil Boiler Service Checklist.
An extensive library of Boiler Manuals are carried
on a laptop. I will always refer to the manufacturers
recommendations when carrying out a Boiler Service.
· Check correct operation of boiler and heating controls
· Check flue soundness, routing, terminal, terminal location and draft regulator as
appropriate
· Check for correct cooling and/or combustion ventilation as appropriate
· Check correct operation of fire shut-off valve and condition of braded oil hose
· Check boiler casing for any visual signs of damage or corrosion
· Check that double pole switch and correct 5-amp fuse are fitted
· Check the correct opperation of the boiler's Residual Current Detector, Earth
safety device
· Check main cables for damage and connections for correct polarity
· Check the condensate trap and drain as appropriate
· Check system pressure and expansion vessel charge pressure where appropriate
· Check and clean the combustion chamber and heat exchanger baffles
· Check combustion chamber insulation as appropriate and repalce as necessary
· Check access panel rope seal and/or insulation and replace as necessary
· Check and clean the burner combustion head, photocell, ignition electrodes and
HT cables
· Replace the fuel nozzle and set the electrode gap.
· Check the condition of burner fan, fuel pump, fuel filter and clean as necessary
· Set the pump pressure and adjust the air flow damper as required
· Carry out flue gas analysis and make adjustments as necessay
· Print copy of flue gas readings for customer and save copy to file
· Re-check correct operation of boiler including safety devices after adjustments
· Check flue spillage at draught diverter where appropriate
· Check condition and siting of oil tank, fuel filter and for contamination
· Check pipework and fittings above ground for leaks and signs of corrosion
